The Alberta College Muttart Recital Hall music recital facility has been a favorite venue of musicians, instructors and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Edmonton. The room shape was developed using 3D computer modelling to ensure that early arrivals and lateral reflections were consistent throughout the seating. Room construction details were developed to provide uniform decay time, and solid bass performance with minimum construction cost.
Not every successful recital venue needs to cost a fortune, and in this case we worked with WSAG Architects in Edmonton to provide very cost-effective acoustical performance. Effective noise and vibration control in the HVAC system provided a noise floor low enough to make an excellent recording venue, and to require the musicians to remove squeaky shoes to prevent the sound from annoying the audience.
